Back in 2011, what a time it was. When people mainly used their computers to access the internet.
When I think of all the ways I've had social media through the years, blogging is one that I look back on with great fondness.
I went through quite a few blogs and even had multiple blogs at once. I remember the days of going through all the settings on Blogger to get my blog just the way I wanted it. Text fonts, colors, blog headers, and all the customizations!
There were fun widgets you could put on your sidebar, you could have little pets and people visiting your blog could feed them and stuff. There was this one that was a fish, and there was a dog I think too.
You could have your own custom cursor for when people came on your blog. On my old photography blog back in the day the cursor was a little camera, how fun is that!
And then there were blogger awards. It was like a tag, but there was also a little image you could put on your sidebar to show you had "won" that award. There was the 'Stylish Blogger Award' and the "Elegant Blogger Award'. People just made them up and started tagging people to award them.
There were contests too, mostly photography or art contests. You could just start one anytime you wanted, just be like 'yo, I'm having a photography contest on my blog submit a photo!' Then you could put a little poll on your sidebar and all your followers could vote for who they think should win.
And it was all just because we enjoyed doing it. No one was trying to make a living off it or get internet famous, it was just for fun. Good old fashioned fun.
I want that back.
All this to say, I don't even care if there is no one here with me, if no one is reading this, if Blogger is a dead platform. I don't care about any of that.
I'm gonna be here, blogging into the void whenever the urge takes me.
